Fatima held her infant son, Abdi, in her arms, tears welling in her eyes. He was severely malnourished, his frail body unable to fight off infections. Like many children in drought-affected areas, Abdi suffered from acute malnutrition due to food shortages.

PASOS, through its emergency nutrition program, identified Abdi during a mobile clinic visit and immediately enrolled him in a feeding program. He received therapeutic food, vitamins, and medical treatment to address his malnutrition. Within weeks, he showed remarkable improvement.

His mother, Fatima, was also trained in nutrition and food preparation, helping her understand the importance of balanced meals and proper feeding practices. PASOS provided her with food rations and connected her with a community farming initiative to ensure a sustainable food source.

Abdi is now a healthy and active child, and his story reflects the thousands of lives saved through PASOS’ nutrition interventions. With ongoing support, the organization continues to combat malnutrition, ensuring that no child is left behind.
