Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced and results-driven Technical and Vocational Training (TVET) Specialist to design, implement, and oversee vocational education and skills development programs. The successful candidate will work with public and private sector partners to ensure training programs are market-driven, inclusive, and aligned with national skills development strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct labor market assessments to identify high-demand trades and vocational skills.
  • Develop competency-based training curricula and standards in collaboration with training institutions and relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the accreditation of training programs and institutions in line with national and international standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to training centers, instructors, and local partners on effective TVET delivery methods.
  • Facilitate partnerships between training institutions, private sector employers, and government entities to promote job placement and apprenticeships.
  • Ensure gender and social inclusion in all training interventions.
  • Monitor and evaluate training outcomes, employment rates, and program impact.
  • Lead capacity-building initiatives for vocational trainers and training providers.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Technical Training, Workforce Development, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in TVET programming, skills development, or workforce training.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, training standards, and capacity building.
  • Familiarity with national TVET policies, frameworks, and accreditation procedures.
  • Strong understanding of labor market dynamics and employer engagement strategies.
  • Excellent project management, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and Somali, and ability to work in diverse cultural contexts.

Desirable

  • Experience working with international donors, NGOs, or government programs.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and learning technologies for vocational training.
  • Experience integrating youth, women, and marginalized populations into training programs.
