Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and proactive Community Mobilization Officer to lead community engagement efforts for our projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with local communities, partners, and stakeholders to foster participation, raise awareness, and support the implementation of programs aimed at improving livelihoods, health, education, or humanitarian outcomes in the target area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mobilize and engage community members and local leaders to participate in project planning, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Organize community meetings, focus group discussions, and outreach activities to raise awareness of project goals and encourage community ownership.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community structures, youth and women’s groups, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates, feedback, and recommendations to project teams based on community feedback.
  • Facilitate training sessions and capacity-building workshops for community volunteers and mobilizers.
  • Support data collection, baseline surveys, and needs assessments in the community.
  • Identify risks, conflicts, or concerns within the community and work to find collaborative solutions.
  • Promote inclusive participation of marginalized groups, including women, youth, and persons with disabilities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Public Health, or related field.
  • At least 2–4 years of relevant experience in community mobilization, outreach, or similar roles within NGOs or development projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English and Somali.
  • Knowledge of participatory approaches and community engagement tools.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Familiarity with the cultural and social dynamics of the target communities.

Preferred

  • Previous experience working on projects related to health, education, gender, or humanitarian assistance.
  • Experience working with local authorities, civil society, or grassroots organizations.
